JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 31 — Police in Jacksonville, Fla., say a 27-year-old woman pretended to be pregnant with quadruplets to receive gifts, donations and discounts.

According to authorities, Clarissa Robbie Linnabary, 27, had claimed to be pregnant with quadruplets and had received numerous gifts, donations, and discounts from Navy and Marine Corps families, local businesses and friends, WJXT-TV reported.

After receiving information from two witnesses who said they believed Linnabary was lying about being pregnant, officers with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service launched an investigation.
At the conclusion of a two-week investigation, authorities said they identified several victims of the alleged pregnancy scam who gave gifts, donations or discounts to help Linnabary in her time of need.

Authorities said Linnabary was never pregnant with quadruplets. She was arrested on July 24 and charged with felony theft by deception.
She was released two days later on a $3,550 bond.
Investigators are asking anyone else who may have fallen victim to the pregnancy scam to contact Deputy Art Hernandez at 912-510-5174 or Special Agent Brandon McKinnon at 912- 573-4706.
