Wise Shopping For Clothing
![]()
Some of the best dressed kids have the least amount of money spent on their clothes. Garage sales, thrift shops and manufacturer’s outlet stores account for some saings hand me downs also help.
Clever shoppers try to keep a little cash on hand for unexpected opportunities, it’s very helpful to keep a small memo book with all the family’s clothing measurements for just such an occasion.
Some important tips:
-Don’t buy plastic pants with snaps; they rip off too easily.
-Buy ‘neutral’ jeans, shirts, and outer clothing so that they can be passed on to children of either sex.
-Get unisex clothing in boys’ departments; it’s usually more rugged and often costs less than a comparable item from the girls’ department.
-Check for fit in socks if you aren’t sure of size: have the child make a fist and wrap the sock over the knuckles. If the heel and toe meet, the sock will fit, Or if the option is available, buy tube socks!
-Buy smock type dresses for girls; when they’re too short they become tops to be worn over pants.
