Please Help Me Out - Have You Seen This Stuffed Animal

tassa-dog.jpg

This is an Ikea Blue Dog that says its called ‘Tassa’ on the tag. It is my 3 year old son’s favorite and only lovey that he sleeps with (he calls him ‘blue doggie), and he is gone missing, and my son is heart-broken. We have given up hope of finding the original, and Ikea apparently has discontinued the model, ( I had to search hard for an image to use here) but if anyone has one of these that they are willing to part with, I would be so very grateful. Please leave a comment with your email/contact info if this is the case, or email me directly at buildingblocksnyc at yahoo.com.

UPDATE:

I bid on and payed $55.00 for what was advertised as a genuine IKEA Tassa stuffed dog from Ebay seller brittafelder (brittafelder@arcor.de) to replace one lost by my son. Fortunately I access to an original IKEA Tassa dog to compare it with. The Tassa sold by brittafelder is obviously different, it is much larger than an original Tassa, has different seams, is made from different material and is stuffed with a different kind of stuffing from an original IKEA Tassa. The Tassa brittafelder sold me also has the stub of a tag left in it, obviously cut by scissors, and equally obviously a completely different material material used than the soft cloth used for the IKEA Tassa dog.

This seller has an apparently endless supply of these Tassa for sale, though the model was discontinued almost 2 years ago, she also uses the same picture for each one she puts up for bidding as the photo of the exact Tassa for sale.

Britta Felder defends herself by saying she buys the Tassa plush from IKEA Deutschland (German IKEA), but a quick search shows she is lying, as clicking the highlighted link will show. The model is still discontinued.
I would not recommend anyone do business with this seller. Ebay security has assured me that they will investigate this seller, although considering that Ebay makes money from each sale, I will be extremely surprised if the seller is dealt with at all, and will likely continue defrauding buyers. As always beware and research before buying from Ebay.

I will post an update if Ebay responds in any way.
Any Ebay representative is encouraged to post a clarifying comment to this blog entry.

Good luck finding the stuffed animal!

My son lost his stuffed animal a while back, I know how tough it is for them without it. :(

Some time has passed since the doggie got lost. Where does your kid think it went? How is he coping now? I’m sure that other readers will be interested in a follow-up about the situation.

I live in Germany and go shopping at IKEA all the time. I have never seen a stuffed animal of that description in the six years I have been buying toys there.

We also lost our son’s ikea stuffed doggie. Ours was a different kind of soft toy but we also went crazy to find it. Try this ebay shop if you haven’t tried them, yet. They are specialized on discontinued hard to find toys. http://stores.ebay.com/CutiePaTooties

Just found one for me on eBay France, and there are two available in Germany too. Try this page http://cgi.ebay.de/IKEA-Hund-Tassa-Stofftier-Kuscheltier-blau-Pluesch-TOP_W0QQitemZ360057816364QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360057816364&_trkparms=72:1126|39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

    Hope this helps!

    Dear Mandy,
I’m writing from Portugal. My daughter has also lost a TASSA bought in IKEA. However her TASSA is slightly different from yous son’s. Hers is apparently an anteater(?! I never would have guessed!)) and has no black nose. Its ears are smaller and is light blue. I guess IKEA had different toys in different countries… I found the exact same one in eBay but it costs 35USD. Do you know were I can find a cheaper one? Thank you.

I’m having a very similar dilemma. Trying to find this plush dog.
If you have any luck, I would appreciate knowing as well.
And if I find it as well, I’ll pass it along to you!

How come these tassa stuffed animals are so pricey?
I do not remember paying that much money to buy one from Ikea in the first place.

I don’t suppose you ever ended up with a spare of these? Ours went walkabout last night, and we have a very sad little boy. As you can see, he loves his Blue Dog very much - just look at those chewed toes!

    Fingers crossed, Ross.

Hi, just noticed this thread. I live in the UK and have 6 brand new ‘blue dogs’ that were bought from IKEA. I am hanging onto all of them for dear life, as my son has cerebral palsy and this little dog is the only thing that will settle him down. My mother in law went into her local IKEA and bought the remaining stock.

My son is now 6 and he has already lost 3 of them, as he throws them while out in his wheelchair. We have to tie doggie on with elastic to stop him being lost.

I feel awful, as i have the 6 brand new ones in the loft, however, to me they are like gold dust.
