Parents can help to diagnose autism

Autism is characterized by impairment in thinking, feeling, speech, and the ability to communicate.
According to a report released by the American Academy of Pediatrics; not turning to look at things, not pointing to objects, lack of babbling and delays in smiling and eye contact are symptoms that can help parents and doctors to recognize the disorder earlier, consequently getting care sooner.
The report also says that another important early indicator of autism is when the child forms attachments with hard objects like pens or keys rather than soft objects like blankets or stuffed animals.
Children diagnosed with Autistic disorders need special attention, including a low student-to-teacher ratio in school, and considerable one-on-one learning time.
