A challenge many single and two parent households struggle to overcome, is substance abuse. Whether it’s the parent or the child, someone at home may have an issue with alcohol or drug abuse, and an important part of recuperation is recognizing that there is a problem, and deciding to act positively to resolve it.

Many corporations have support for employees with substance abuse or alcohol rehab issues, including relationships with local Alcoholics Anonymous chapters and health insurance coverage for stays at a drug treatment center, when nothing else will rescue the individual from the addiction, one such treatment center is the well known Mayflower Center in San Francisco, California.

The Mayflower Center is named for a famous story from The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, regarding Bill W and Dr. Bob S who together founded AA after Bill W made a fateful call from the lobby of the Mayflower Hotel in Akron, Ohio.

The Mayflower Center is dedicated to getting a substance abuser healthy enough to resist temptation and act as support for another addict in succeeding to overcoming their own addiction. The Mayflower Center drug treatment center offers particular assistance for people who have attempted to rid themselves of addiction before, and for one reason or another have had a drug relapse, identifying strengths and weaknesses discovered from those previous attempts.

The process is 12 weeks long, divided into 3 phases, with an optional ‘halfway house option’ for those who wish to pursue a longer term treatment plan (but you must commit for 90 days).

If your family has been torn by the extraordinary stress of a dealing with a loved one’s addiction, you cannot do better The Mayflower Center, with its focused Family Program and dedication to the principles of the 12 Step Program.
