China’s indifference: Toying with lives

Pittsburgh Tribune Review
China has transformed America’s children into guinea pigs.
Communism’s capitalist roaders — who make 70 percent to 80 percent of the toys sold in the United States — seem to be gauging what they can get away with before they grudgingly implement rudimentary consumer product safety standards.
China manufactured every one of the 24 kinds of toys recalled for safety reasons so far this year in the U.S., including 1.5 million of the very popular Thomas & Friends wooden train sets, according to The New York Times.
Last month, Chinese toys that had to be stamped “return to sender” included a ghoulish fake eyeball filled with kerosene, drum sets and a bear both brushed with lead paint and an infant wrist rattle that was a choking hazard, the newspaper reported.
The safety of Chinese-made products such as pet food, pharmaceuticals and toothpaste rightly has been questioned universally. And there’s another troubling revelation — China Daily reports the government’s own auditing agency determined last month that 20 percent of the toys made and sold in China had safety hazards.
China’s unprincipled greed is toying with human life. It must end. Now.
