Book Review-What Dads Can’t Do by Douglas Wood & Doug Cushman

What Dads Can’t Do  is a perfect book to buy for Father’s Day. The story is touchingly told from the point of view of a preschooler, telling us all the things ‘dad can’t do’.

For example, dads can’t bait a fish hook by themselves. Dads can’t seem to hold on to their money (with an accompanying illustration showing dad buying a toy), and did you know that sometimes dads are afraid of the dark and need to turn on the night light?
The illustrations are soft watercolors of stegasaurus type dinosaurs, and convey a very sweet and poignant aspect to the story, and the story itself could be of a single dad or divorced and spending his weekend time with his child, as well as a married father at home, which really broadens the appeal over the wide range of families.
Its a book my son always asks for since my husband brought it home, and they really enjoy reading it together every night. I can wholeheartedly recommend it for dad this Father’s Day.
